If you are in or near Philadelphia please join Occupy Philly in telling Nick DeBenedictis, CEO of Aqua America, to leave the river in Riverdale!
June 9th, 5 -7pm
DeBenedictis Mansion, 231 Golfview Rd, Ardmore, PATime is running out for residents of Riverdale Mobile Home Village in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania (and for all Pennsylvanians who enjoy clean fresh water!).
Join Occupy Philly participants and other activists for a "Change of Heart Vigil" outside the home of Aqua America's CEO Nick DeBenedictis on SATURDAY, June 9th from 5 to 6pm. We're calling on DeBenedictis to change his mind and refuse to evict the residents of Riverdale Mobile Home Village in Jersey Shore, PA. We are also calling on Aqua America to cease its plans to build a massive water intake facility at Riverdale to remove THREE MILLION GALLONS each day from the Susquehanna River (which provides vital freshwater to the Chesapeake Bay) for use in hydraulic fracturing natural gas extraction, commonly referred to as fracking. Riverdale is currently on the front lines of the battle against fracking.
DeBenedictis' house is easily accessible by light rail (Norristown line) from the 69th St terminal in West Philly. The nearest station, just a couple blocks away, is Ardmore Junction.
Call Nate with any questions, or if you're having trouble finding it: 215-264-0446 (I should have room to drive a few people from Center City around 4pm).
